Discord Server[]

Is there a discord server where we can communicate about ideas/chat about standards we want for the Wiki, or will it all be done via Talk pages? - MichaelSixtyFour (talk) 11:28, 21 February 2022 (UTC)

I'd love to know if there's a Discord server for this kind of stuff. Failing that, is there a list of these standards somewhere already? I feel as though this Wiki has a lot of potential to be the go to place for Lost Ark info (similarly to Runescape's Wikis) instead of players needing to use several sites like Lost Ark Codex.

I just spoke to the guys at Smilegate for the official Discord server, if you put in/send me your Discord names/Discord ID's and join the official Lost Ark server, he said he'd be happy to set us up a channel.
This is at [https://discord.gg/lostark]

I'm interested, duhbutts#4151, I'm just working on a Beginner's Guide in my own lazy way.

I just joined the official Discord server, the plan to have a dedicated channel for the wiki team is still up?

Main Page, To-Do list[]

I've been working like crazy on it the past few days, but our front page is terrible, doesn't have half the stuff people would be looking for, like builds, Mokoko Seeds, Gear Honing, Raids, Current Events, Skills, or Collections, but then we have stuff like Enemies, that is so far out of date, and the list would be a mile long. Plus, we have a lot of "static" content that needs to be updated manually/kept in sync, I just made the Area NPC's and quests dynamic, and updated all of them, I made templates to add missing quests and NPC's quickly so we can start getting them at least in the system. But we're missing dynamic categories that tell us which NPC's are lacking images, or locations, or quests that are missing an NPC link, etc.; this makes it hard to know where the weak spots are without going through things one at a time. We also have the opportunity to get things like patch notes via RSS feed and such that we just haven't done, and they're out of date. Xorekle (talk) 10:47, 20 April 2022 (UTC)

We really need a working todo list on here somewhere too.

You always can create an edit copy of the main page to rework and to rearrange links and other elements! (Yes, please! I'm all for more improvement and better nav.) Encredechine (talk) 12:14, 20 April 2022 (UTC)
Another new thing to look up...lol, I have no idea how to do that :)
Xorekle (talk) 17:06, 20 April 2022 (UTC)
The best thing is, I easily forget, and the old editcopy is still there Lost Ark Wiki/editcopy col examples. Encredechine (talk) 19:51, 20 April 2022 (UTC)

I've set up dynamic categories for NPCs needing an infobox image and NPCs needing a location or continent. They're hidden categories so they won't be listed on the NPC pages (there's a user preference to "Show hidden categories" if you want).

I don't think it'd be practical to tag quests needing an NPC link, because many quests are received without talking to an NPC. For example Dungeon and Sudden quests are received automatically on entering the dungeon/area, and most Main quests are received automatically upon completion of the previous quest.

Fair for some of that, maybe by category then? Like all rapport quests should eventually link to an NPC, every main quest I can think of, involves turning into, talking to, or interacting with an NPC in some form.

As for a To-Do list, we could add one to the Community portal page. Feel free to make suggestions about what ought to be included. Or you could make a personal to-do list in your userspace.

Definitely we should, I'll start putting together a list, and add it to the talk page there and we can decide what we want to add or not to the main page.

This is just vaguely related to what things should get worked on and what should be on the front page. I've made a Beginner's Guide and made some a couple of comments on Talk:Beginner's Guide. I haven't really looked at other pages but my guide & questions is some of what I wanted to know about when I began learning about the game. I'm not an experienced wiki editor (I'm vaguely a coder). I'm open to other people working on it though I may want to make own version if it gets too far away from my vision which should be okay too. My major recommendations is that don't let the scope of the guide get too large and too long because I personally hate long pages (DON'T WASTE MY TIME SCROLLING (sorry, I'm kinda anal.)) (example: some pages on the Runescape wiki) and paragraphs of texts. Silverwilver (talk) 22:58, 20 April 2022 (UTC)
